LEGO for Beginners

LEGO Architecture

Introduction to EV3 RoboticsFIRST LEGO League

For students who have not taken other LEGO classes with us and are interested in learning basic STEM concepts.

For students with previous LEGO class experience. The team will build various models and learn to program them. 

Meets: Mondays 4 -5:30 PM
Instructor: Staff      
Level: Ages 7 & up
Tuition: $7.50 per week or $25.00 preregistered for 5 weeks.

In this class, participants work individually or in teams as needed for each session. Twenty minutes of "free" play and clean up ends each class. A light snack will be provided. Gears, wheels, pulleys and eventually motors are added to the LEGO bricks producing motion in various vehicles and other projects.

Each session is limited to 6 participants so individual help is available for each student.

This series of lessons provides a directed introduction to LEGO robotics. The participants will follow the same step-by-step instructions as the Beginners classes but will learn to program their creations to move, make noise and "sense" what is around them.

Early session is limited to 8 students, minimum of 4 is required to run class.

For students who wish to learn about buildings and structures.

Meets: as necessary
Instructor: staff   
Level: Grades grade 6 and up (11 years+)
Tuition: $5 session.  May attend multiple times each week.

LEGO Architecture provides an in depth look at the concepts behind the building. Each week participants can learn a different concept such as density or symmetry and make micro models to demonstrate each idea. They will also create their own individual building or use kits to create historic landmarks over several sessions. The Tower Bridge kit results in a model almost 3 feet long.

For older and more advanced LEGO robotics students  FLL (FIRST 
​LEGO League)  build and program a robot and compete against other local teams

Meets: Tuesdays
4-5:30PM
Instructor: Jeff Welton
Level: Grades 6+
(FLL ages 11 -14)
Tuition: $10/session, 5 weeks for $40.
Multiple meetings in fall for same weekly price.

Use your EV3 LEGO programming skills to face various challenges.  Work in teams or alone to maneuver your robot across the exciting game board and complete with other FIRST LEGO League teams.

Previous LEGO programming experience required!
