Vision
Build a scientifically literate public and shape our future leaders to help improve quality of life across the globe - not just through pragmatic teaching, but by the power of vision, inspiration, and innovation.
Mission
The mission of the Challenger Learning Center is to engage students and teachers in dynamic, hands-on exploration and discovery opportunities that strengthen knowledge in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), inspire students to pursue careers in these fields, and provide an outlet to learn and apply important life skills.
Goals
Our primary goals are to:
- Provide hands-on, real world, interactive educational experiences to students of all ages throughout WNY
- conduct simulated missions for school groups as a culminating experience to an interdisciplinary classroom curriculum emphasizing Common Core Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, and 21st Century Learning Skills
- Improve the quality of WNY education by providing state-of-the-art training and professional development opportunities and curriculum resources for classroom teachers
- Increase student interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) careers by raising awareness of opportunities in those fields
Our services and programs
Born out of the tragedy that took the lives of the Challenger crew on January 28th, 1986, Challenger Learning Centers were created by the families of the crew as a living memorial to their spirit of exploration. The families knew that a lasting memorial, dedicated to educating students in science, math, and engineering, could play a vital role in America’s future.
